Nas

American rapper Nasir bin Odu Dara Jones (/na/'sI@r/; born on September 14th 1972), also called Nas (/naz/). He is regarded as to be one of the most influential rappers of the past being a native of East Coast hip-hop. [1][2][3(Related to the album "Nasty Nas") Jones, the son of jazz musician Olu dara, started his musical career in 1989 when he adopted "Nasty Nas" and released demos to Large Professor. The group later appeared on the single "Live at the Barbeque" by Main Source. Nas's first album, Illmatic (1994), received universal acclaim upon it's release and is thought to be among the most iconic hip hop albums of all time. in 2021 the album was inducted into the Library of Congress's National Recording Registry. The album that followed It was Written (1996) was released at the top of the Billboard 200 and charted for four weeks consecutively. The album, as well as the single "If I Ruled the World (Imagine That)" (featuring Lauryn Hill), catapulted Nas into international success. [7] His 1999 albums I Am (and later Nastradamus) were both criticized as being too commercially focused and inconsistent. Critics and fans were concerned that the album's output would decrease in quality. [citation needed]From 2001 to 2005, Nas was involved in a very publicized battle with Jay-Z, popularized by the diss track "Ether". This feud as well as Nas' albums Stillmatic (2001) and God's Son (2002) and the album Street's Disciple (2004), that made him a household name. After settling the conflict, Nas signed with Jay-Z's Def Jam Recordings (2006). Nas took a provocative and politicized approach to his albums Hip Hop Is Dead (2006) and the untitled 9th studio record (2008). In 2010 Nas released Distant Relatives, a collaboration album with Damian Marley, donating all the royalties to charities working in Africa. Life Is Good, his 10th studio album, was nominated in the 55th Annual Grammy Awards for Best Rap Album. After receiving 13 nominations his 12th studio album, King's Disease (2020), earned him his first Grammy for Best Rap Album at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards; he later followed this with the release of his 13th studio album, King's Disease II (2021) to serve in the form of a sequel to the album. In the same year the 14th album of his studio, Magic, was released on Christmas Eve. King's Disease III (2022) is his fourth album in a row with producer Hit-Boy.
